Team Demo’s Sherrie Heckenast Discusses “New Blood” with Marcus Lemonis of CNBC

Marcus+Lemonis+Demolition+Derby+League+2Sherrie Hechnast, the owner / promoter of Team Demolition in Joliet Illinois, was recently interviewed by Marcus Lemonis, host of CNBC’s “The Profit”.

Hechnast discussed the need for her demolition derby organization to add new and younger talent to the series.  “New blood would do a lot for the series.  I think it would grow not only the competition side but would grow the fan base. New blood would also, maybe, get us to different markets and different areas”, says Hechnast.

Lemonis says, “Sherrie is in a tough position.  She has to make sure that teams open up the doors for new talent in order to grow Team Demo and expand into new markets. And to do that she has to be as aggressive as her racers.”

Team-Demo-CNBCHechnast, Lemonis and Orange Crush team driver Ron Tyrakowski talked about the importance of working together to help the series grow.  “If we don’t have you (Sherrie), we don’t have anything either.  If we don’t have each other we’re done,” says Tyrakowski.

Lemonis summed it up, “In order to be successful and have your business last long term, my recommendation is to look for new people by leaving slots open on your team for interns, apprentices and maybe even the competition.  If you close the door and don’t teach people, at some point your going to run out of good people.”
